The Tournaments for Citadel Hastilude A.S. LIII have been announced!

The Tournaments

Armored Combat

The Grand Tournament

The Grand Tournament is the main tournament of the event.  This tournament will be fought as a weapon of choice in a best two out of three double elimination format.*  This tournament must be fought with all of the pomp and circumstance as possible and fighters will be judged on it.  Four Lady Judges, chosen by the Tournament Champions (Duke Walrick and Sir Roland) will judge each fighter’s chivalry, showmanship and fighting prowess.  Tokens will be given by them for those fighters who excel.  Final points for the tournament will be tallied based upon victories (3 points per victory) as well as tokens given by the Judges, Her Royal Majesty, The Landed Nobility present, the Marshals, and the fighters themselves.

*(Depending on the number of entries it may be changed to a single fight tournament)

The Five-Man Melee Tournament

Five man teams** will face off using weapons of choice.  Best two out of three, double elimination.  Teams should be chosen based on which champion that the fighters are fighting on.

**(Three man teams if participation does not support five man).

The Tilting Tournament

This Tournament will be fought using six-foot spears while “riding” stick horses.  Any fighter “unhorsed” (dropping their stick horse) will be considered dead on the ground.  Appropriate mounts can be selected from the Baronial Stables or you may bring your own valiant steed.  Steeds cannot be used to make attacks on your opponent.

The Torchlight Mongolian Dagger Tournament

This tournament will be fought using thrusting daggers only.  A dagger will be used in one hand and one end of a shared three-foot length of rope will be held in the other.  Combatants cannot release the rope during the fight or they will be considered defeated.  Best two out of three, double elimination.

Rapier Combat

*(Depending on the number of entries it may be changed to a single fight tournament).

The Wheel of Fortune Tournament

For the rapier “Wheel of Fortune” tournament, fighters will spin the Wheel of Fortune for their secondary (or take what is in the mystery box) every round; as the philosopher Boetheus wrote ‘Inconstancy is my very essence,’ says the wheel.  Rise up on my spokes if you like but do not complain when you’re cast back down into the depths.”  Her Royal Majesty may change the results of your spin or decree what the secondaries for the fight will be; such is the nature of Fortune.  This tournament will be fought in a best two out of three double elimination format.

The Roving Tournament

This Tournament will begin at first light on Saturday morning and will continue evening court.  Registration will open on Friday evening and will stay open until the end of the tournament.

Be advised also that as dueling has been declared illegal, Baronial Constables will be on patrol in order to keep the peace.  Any duelists caught by the constables will be apprehended and hauled off to jail, where they will have to serve their sentence of a half an hour.  Those not wishing to serve jail time can either fight the City Guard and hope to win, or bail themselves out of jail.  Bail money will go to support the Kingdom Travel Fund.  Those who lose a bout with a Constable will also be charged with resisting arrest and will receive a jail sentence of one hour.  Defeating a Constable, however, will be equal to two normal victories in terms of the tournament.  The winner of the tournament is the one with the most victories at the end of the day.

The Tavern Brawl

This tournament is a last man standing scenario.  The overall winner will be the first fighter to attain three round victories.  Only weapons that would be normally found in a tavern will be allowed.  “weird” weapons such as chair legs, bottles and such can be made and used so long as they are considered safe for rapier fighting.***  The weirdest wepon for the event will be chosen and it’s maker recognized for his or her creativity.  Pistols are also allowed (no projectiles, however)..

***(Consult with your local rapier marshals if there is any doubt as to the safety of your “Weird” weapon.)
